Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ campaign, a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening awareness against drug abuse and encouraging youth participation in building a healthier, addiction-free India.

The campaign brings together government agencies, educational institutions, community organisations and volunteers to address the growing challenge of substance abuse among young people.
Speaking at the launch, the Prime Minister said that drug addiction not only destroys individual lives but also weakens families and society.

He urged students, teachers, parents and local communities to actively participate in the movement, describing a drug-free generation as essential for achieving the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047.Government

The Government departments have been directed to expand awareness programmes in schools, colleges and universities while strengthening rehabilitation and counselling services for those affected.

The campaign will focus on public awareness drives, community outreach, youth engagement, and coordinated action against drug trafficking networks. Authorities say the initiative will also promote sports, skill development and educational activities to encourage positive alternatives for young people.

Government believes the campaign will complement existing anti-drug efforts while fostering greater public participation in preventing substance abuse. Officials have called on citizens to support the initiative by spreading awareness and reporting drug-related activities, describing the movement as a collective national responsibility.
