Singer Javed Ali has lent his voice to a new devotional song, ‘Siya Ram’, from the upcoming film Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha, and the singer says the experience left a deeper impression on him than a regular recording.
The song was released on Wednesday in Hindi and Chhattisgarhi. Javed Ali has sung the Hindi version, while Anurag Sharma has lent his voice to the Chhattisgarhi version.
The song focuses on the bond between Shri Ram and Mata Sita and has been presented as part of the film’s devotional music. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas across India on September 25 in Hindi and Chhattisgarhi.
For Javed Ali, however, the recording was about more than simply getting the vocals right.
Speaking about the song, the singer described ‘Siya Ram’ as a spiritual experience and said singing the names of Siya and Ram gave him a feeling of peace and surrender.
Javed Ali has performed devotional music before, but he said this experience has encouraged him to explore the genre more deeply.

Javed Ali also spoke about devotional music in broader terms, saying that a singer does not necessarily have to belong to a particular religion to connect with the emotion behind devotional music.
