Mivi Enters Smartphone Market With One 5G, Launch Set for September 24

Mivi is getting ready to enter a market it has never competed in before.

The Hyderabad-based consumer technology brand will launch its first smartphone in India on September 24, bringing the Mivi One 5G into a budget smartphone segment already crowded with established names.

Mivi is better known for its earphones, earbuds and speakers. The move into smartphones marks a significant change for the company after years of building its name in India’s audio market.

The company has confirmed that the Mivi One 5G will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 5G platform. It will be sold through Flipkart and will be manufactured in Hyderabad as Mivi expands its consumer technology business.

Mivi has not yet revealed the exact processor or the final price. The company has also kept most of the phone’s specifications under wraps ahead of the launch. That has not stopped details from appearing online.

A recent Geekbench listing for a device identified as Mivi MVNOE points to a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor with 6GB of RAM and Android 16. However, Mivi has not confirmed that the benchmarked device is the final One 5G, so those details should be treated as unconfirmed for now.

The phone’s design has already been shown in teasers. It is expected to have a flat rear panel with two large camera rings arranged diagonally and a small flash beside them. A green colour option has also been teased.

The bigger question will be its price.

Reports have placed the phone in the sub-₹15,000 segment, where buyers have fewer choices if they want both 5G connectivity and a Snapdragon platform. Mivi itself has not announced the final price, so that part of the story will have to wait until the launch.

For Mivi, entering smartphones is a much bigger gamble than adding another pair of earbuds or a new speaker to its product range. The company will now be competing in one of India’s most crowded electronics categories, where buyers already have plenty of options from brands that have spent years building their smartphone businesses.

The company appears to be betting on its understanding of Indian consumers and its existing manufacturing experience. Mivi says the new phone has been developed with Indian consumer requirements in mind and is working with Qualcomm, Flipkart and Google for the device.

There is still a lot that Mivi has to reveal. The display, camera specifications, battery capacity, charging speed, storage options and final software details have not all been officially announced. Those details could make a major difference once the phone goes up against other devices in the same price range.

For now, the September 24 launch is the first big test.

Mivi has spent years building a name around affordable audio products. The One 5G will show whether that brand can make the much harder jump into smartphones.
